Following an ancient Chinese tradition of fishing using cormorants, the fisherman is a hand-sewn figure riding a cormorant. The bird holds a hand-carved wooden fish in his beak. The fisherman carries a fisherman's basket in preparation of saving the fish the cormorant catches.
